Job Description
The role of the Patient Service Representative (PSR) is to provide "Extraordinary Care" to patients and customers through friendly, caring, courteous, and professional services.  A successful PSR becomes the patient’s advocate and works to facilitate resolution of patient accounts by working with insurance companies, government agencies and patients in the payment for services that have been provided.  In the Medicare/Medicaid role, the PSR has the opportunity to use their valuable skills and resources by responding to questions, researching discrepancies and insurance denials and following Intermountain’s policies and procedures to minimize uncollectible accounts processed by Medicaid and Medicare.  Completing these duties provides the PSR the opportunity to truly make a difference in the lives of many on a daily basis.
Entry Rate:  $12.69

Shift Details:  Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm   
Additional Details:  At the end of June, 2014, Intermountain Homecare’s Salt Lake central office will be moving to a new facility in South Jordan, located at 11520 S. Redwood Road. All employees and operations from the current location in the Metro Business Park in West Valley will be relocated to this new facility. 

Minimum Requirements
  • Typing proficiency (30 WPM (words per minute))
  • Good communication skills
  • Computer skills
  • Two or more years of customer service experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • One or more years Billing Medical claims or demonstrated experience in the following:
    • complex problem solving experience
    • experience working in a regulatory environment
    • ability to communicate and problem solve issues professionally and effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization
Physical Requirements

  • Hearing/listening, manual dexterity, seeing, speaking

Preferred Qualifications
  • Medical Terminology
  • Admitting, collection, or insurance verification experience
  • Prior experience billing Medicare Claims
