Job Description
The role of the Patient Service Representative (PSR) is to provide exceptional patient care by creating a customer/patient service experience that is phenomenal for each and every patient visit. The PSR works as a partner in the clinic together with the physician(s), clinical staff, other front desk staff and manager to provide a welcoming, caring and healing environment for patients. Where this position deals directly with patients and family members, the PSR is responsible to ensure that patients’ needs are listened to, understood and resolved. The ideal candidate will be one who is outgoing, enjoys working with people, one who smiles and interacts in a positive manner to create a positive first impression of the clinic, its staff, physicians and services.
A PSR in the Intermountain Medical Group has the responsibility to keep the clinic running smoothly, the physician working efficiently, and to assist primarily with front-desk duties such as registering patients, ensuring accurate demographic information is obtained/updated in the registration software, collecting co-payments, insurance information and other related front-end assignments.
A successful PSR becomes the patient’s advocate as they coordinate services such as scheduling of appointments, registration, cashiering functions, and data entry of appropriate physician charges. The PSR is also responsible for effective billing, problem solving, and maintenance of financial computer records of clinic patients following Intermountain’s policies and procedures. Completing these duties provides the PSR the opportunity to truly make a difference in the lives of many on a daily basis.
The clinic environment is a fast paced smaller environment that allows the development of close working relationships with physicians and clinical staff as well as returning patients. Every team member is vital to the clinic’s success in providing exceptional patient care.
